The Museo Regional Huasteco is a Civil Association, whose purpose is to preserve and disseminate the archaeological and ethnographic testimonies of the Huasteca Potosina.

The idea of creating a museum for Ciudad Valles came from Mrs. Oralia Gutiérrez de Sánchez, when she observed (after the conclusion of the Mexico-Laredo national highway) how national and foreign tourists obtained archaeological pieces bought or given by locals.
