The Huasteco Regional Museum is a Civil Association, whose purpose is to preserve and disseminate the archaeological and ethnographic testimonies of the Huasteca Potosina. The idea of creating a museum for Ciudad Valles came from Mrs. Oralia Guti\u00e9rrez de S\u00e1nchez, when she observed (after the conclusion of the Mexico-Laredo national highway) how national and foreign tourists obtained archaeological pieces bought or given by locals.<\/p>

The initial construction of the property was possible thanks to small donations received from visitors. Tourists saw in his home an archaeological collection made up of eight thousand pieces, collected over two decades of research. Governor Antonio Rocha Cordero, seeing that only the walls were left, with ten days remaining until the end of his mandate, provided him with the resources to make the roof, the frames and the window glass for the museum. The building was finally inaugurated on December 31, 1978 by Lic. Guillermo Fonseca \u00c1lvarez, under the name of Museo Regional Huasteco AC<\/p>

On January 4, 2005, Teacher Oralia passed away, leaving her dear friend and ally, Mrs. Elia Lyne Casados, as Honorary Director.
